DREAMSVILLE

by Grant Carrington

Wakingly, the soft-water fall of night
treads into the unborn dreams of
the sleepless one:

Threading and winding its spider-sticky
threads through the empty
chambers of the mind.

Far away is heard the faint tinkling
of a lonely piano, the chords
of a forlorn orchestra.

Still the piano sounds its chords and still
the band tells its sad tale as
they carry me to Dreamsville.
