August 11-September 9, 1984

A Gentleman of Stratford is a life of William Shakespeare as The Bard himself might have written it: rich in Elizabethan dialogue and personalities, from London Cockneys to Christopher Marlowe, Lord Essex and Elizabeth herself. The Elizabeth-Essex court intrigues and the decline and death of Marlowe parallel the struggle and rise of young Will Shakespeare, the gentleman from Stratford. A return appearance by the co-author of 1982 Playwrights' Festival hit UFO.
